Privacy Policy
ControlMole for Android, by Kairi Labs. Effective 15 October 2026.
ControlMole helps you limit your own screen time. To do that it looks at how you use your phone, and almost all of that stays on your phone. This page explains exactly what the app reads, what (little) leaves the device, and why.
In short: no ads, no account, no selling of data. Your app usage and the websites you visit are processed on your phone only. To fix bugs and improve the app, it sends anonymous crash reports and basic usage analytics through Google Firebase.
What stays on your phone
This information is read and stored only on your device. It is never sent to us or anyone else:
- App usage: how long and how often you use the apps you choose to watch (via Android's Usage access).
- Installed apps: the names and icons of apps on your home screen, so you can pick which ones to limit.
- Websites: with the optional Mole watch (an accessibility service), the address bar of supported browsers, so time on sites like video or social sites counts towards your limit. Page content is never read.
- Your rules and progress: limits, timers, bedtime, streaks, achievements and settings.
Uninstalling ControlMole deletes all of this.
What leaves your phone
ControlMole uses two Google Firebase services, and RevenueCat if you buy Mole Premium. They process this data for us as service providers.
| Service | Data | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reports (stack traces and the app state at the moment of the crash), basic device information (model, Android version) and a random installation ID | To find and fix crashes |
| Google Analytics for Firebase | App interactions (which screens are opened, sessions), a random app-instance ID, and approximate location (country or region) derived from a masked IP address | To understand which features are used and improve the app |
| RevenueCat | A random app user ID, your purchase history for ControlMole (which plan, when, store receipts and order IDs), and your country and currency from the store | To check whether Premium is active and restore it on a new phone |
Payments themselves are handled by Google Play (or the App Store). We never see your card or payment details, your name or your email address.
This data is not linked to your name, email or any account, it never includes the apps or websites you use, and ControlMole does not collect the Android Advertising ID. Data is encrypted in transit. Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days and analytics data for up to 14 months.
Google's own handling of this data is described in the Firebase privacy information and the Google Privacy Policy, and RevenueCat's in the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Permissions
- Usage access: to count minutes in the apps you choose to watch.
- Notifications: for limit warnings and reminders.
- Accessibility service (optional, "Mole watch"): to see which app is in front so ControlMole can show its block screen, to read only the address bar of supported browsers, and, if you block short videos, to check whether the Reels, Shorts or Spotlight player is open in Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat or Facebook so it can go back out of it. It does not read page content, video content, messages, keystrokes or other on-screen text, and what it sees stays on your phone.
- Device admin (optional, "Mole Lock"): only so Android asks you to switch it off before ControlMole can be uninstalled. You can switch it off in Settings at any time.
The iPhone waitlist on this website
If you leave your email address under the App Store button on controlmole.app, we store that address and the date you left it, and nothing else. We use it for one thing: to send you a single email when ControlMole is out on the App Store. After that email goes out we delete the address. We never add it to a newsletter or share it with anyone.
The address is stored with Cloudflare, which hosts this website and acts as our service provider. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by emailing software@magiskmg.com; we'll delete your address straight away.
Sharing and selling
We don't sell your data, share it for advertising, or show ads. Apart from Google, RevenueCat and Cloudflare acting as our service providers (above), we only disclose information if the law requires it.
Children
ControlMole is meant for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13.
Your rights and deleting your data
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, or to object to its processing. Because we don't have accounts, the only data we hold is the pseudonymous crash, analytics and purchase data above, plus your email address if you joined the iPhone waitlist. To ask us to delete your data, email software@magiskmg.com with the subject "ControlMole data deletion". If you can, include the date you installed the app; we'll delete what we can identify within 30 days. Everything stored on your phone is deleted when you uninstall the app. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Our legal basis for crash reporting and analytics is our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it. For Premium purchases it's providing what you bought; stores and tax law may require us to keep purchase records for longer.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For anything about privacy, contact Kairi Labs at software@magiskmg.com.
